Venezuela - Angle Falls & Orinoco Adventure (11 days)
From Caracas we fly to historical Ciudad Bolivar, located on the banks of the Orinoco River. After a short flight to Canaima we journey by dugout canoe towards imposing Auyan Tepui, from which the silvery torrents of Angel Falls pour. We hike through the lush canopied rainforest to the base of the world's highest waterfall and go on to visit the stunning stepped watercourse of Sapo. We then return to Canaima to explore the lagoon and relax on the pink quartz sand beach.
Returning to the Orinoco River we venture by boat into the dense jungle and mysterious world of the Warao Indians. Teaming with wildlife the trees are alive with the chants of howler monkeys and blue and gold macaws. Before flying back to Caracas we spend a few nights on the beach, absorbing the tropical beauty of the Paria Peninsula.
- Day 1: (Sun) Arrive in Caracas and transfer to hotel.
- Day 2: Half day walking tour of Caracas. Late afternoon flight to Ciudad Bolivar.
- Day 3: Fly to Canaima with a chance to see Angel Falls. Travel by dugout canoe to the Falls Base Camp at Ratoncito. Hike to base of Angel Falls.
- Day 4: Return to Canaima by canoe, visiting Sapo Falls en route.
- Day 5: Relax on beach at Canaima. Fly to Ciudad Bolivar.
- Day 6: Drive to Boca De Uracoa and travel by river boat to Orinoco Delta.
- Day 7: Visit the Warao Indian settlement and explore the flora and fauna of the delta.
- Days 8-9: Travel to Paria Peninsula. Visit Playa Medina.
- Day 10: Visit Cocoa Hacienda and learn about traditional processing of cocoa.
- Day 11: Fly to Caracas where trip ends on arrival (Wed).
