France - A taste of Burgundy (8 days)
Welcome to Burgundy and all its treasures - sprawling green vines laden with world-famous bounty, tiny villages nestled among rolling hills and local village folk who welcome our exploration with a wide smile and quite possibly a chilled glass. Road signs in this revered region of France read like a Sommelier's handbook and we visit such icons as Meursault, Nuits St Georges, Pommard and the village chosen for centuries by French royalty for its famed 'red' - Volnay.
This is a trip that encapsulates of all Burgundies great variety. We explore the fascinating ancient townships of Beaune, Cluny and Macon and wander the banks of the tranquil Canal-du-Centre. Moving south we discover the pastural beauty and sweeping vistas surrounding tiny historic Brancion and gaze upon meadows filled with famous Charolais cattle. 'Degustations,' picnic lunches, intriguing history and stunningly rewarding walks are the order of the day with our week of 'Old-World' magic.
