Australia - South Australia

Australia - South Australia

If you are looking for a holiday of spectacular scenery, wonderful food and wine, city excitement and friendly locals then South Australia is waiting to enthral you.

Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, is a gracious elegant city with lovely parks and heritage buildings. Shoppers can't go past Rundle Mall, and Gouger Street offers dining experiences from around the globe at affordable prices. Adelaide's Central Market is a huge hive of activity, each stall proudly displaying an incredible variety of produce and the friendly retailers are always ready to offer a sample and advice. A highlight is definitely a bike ride along the 13km path from the centre of Adelaide to the beach - a great way to spend the day. The beauty of South Australia is that most of the key regions that you would want to visit are within easy driving distance from Adelaide. Take a 4WD tour and pass through huge sheep stations and abandoned mines of yesteryear. Your friendly driver will happily point out the kangaroos, emus and wedge tailed eagles and regale you with tall tales of the South Australian outback.

Flinders Ranges with its rugged beauty is spectacular, especially when viewed in the changing light of dawn or dusk. If you have a little spending money, take a scenic flight over the natural wonder of Wilpena Pound and its surrounding ranges - truly spectacular and worth the investment.

Within the Ranges there are also many opportunities to explore the Aboriginal rock art, stunning landscapes, abundant wildlife and much more by foot. The friendly locals are always ready to offer suggestions. The wineries of the famous Clare Valley and Barossa Valley are simply wonderful! A leisurely cycle tour is a great way to explore them, but might require another trip if serious wine tasting or purchasing is on the agenda.

The Murray River is another highlight in South Australia and no visit there would be complete without a Murray River cruise. With 650kms of river and 40 National Parks located along the river, the region is rich in wildlife with many species of birds, fish and native animals. A luxurious Unforgettable Houseboat is an ideal way to explore the river, perfect for families or for friends travelling together.
