Laos - Laos Encompassed (14-days)
Starting in Bangkok and journey to Laos, the hidden gem of Asia, your journey down the Mekong River takes you past gorgeous and lush countryside - perfect for scenic photos. Against a setting of Buddhist monuments and crumbling French colonial architecture in Luang Prabang, you will encounter welcoming locals who have often had little contact with foreigners. Vientiane, unlike most capital cities, is bathed in tranquillity, with the pace and mood of a large country town. Situated on the banks of the Mekong River, it is home to many historic Buddhist temples and monuments, including the impressive golden stupa of Pha That Luang. In southern Laos you can explore the Khmer temple of Wat Po, enjoy the natural surrounds at Tad Fan and visit the beautiful Si Pan Don (four thousand islands) region of the Mekong River where you will conclude our tour in Pakse.

Day 1 (Sat) Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 City tour of Bangkok. Fly to Chiang Rai.

Day 3 Cross border into Laos. Boat to Pakbeng.

Day 4 Boat to Luang Prabang, stopping en route at Pak Ou Caves and Ban Sang Hai.

Day 5 Watch monks on alms round and explore historic temples and the former Royal Palace. Visit Kuang Si Falls.

Day 6 Drive to Phonsavan and visit the Plain of Jars.

Day 7-8 Fly to Vientiane. City tour including Patuxai, Wat Si Saket, Wat Prakeo and Pha That Luang.

Day 9 Fly to Pakse and travel to Tad Fane eco lodge.

Day 10 Trek the trails around the Bolaven Plateau.

Day 11 Boat cruise down Mekong River to Don Khong. Visit Wat Po.

Day 12 Day tour of Si Pan Don.

Day 13 Trip ends in Pakse this morning (Thurs)
